Term 4 2024 Newsletter |
It’s been some time since I’ve done a newsletter but there’s quite a few things to communicate this term so thought I’d put one out to put all the information together in one place.
As always any questions, comments or concerns text me on 0409 281 515.
Looking forward to a great term!
All the best
Dan
We’ve been looking for a new supplier of club merchandise and have found a local supplier.
Loren will supply us with Black Shirts with our 2024 Student Design.
Prices for these are just
We will be releasing our 2025 design in the next month or so.
If you wish to put logos onto your own jumpers, jackets or hoodies our supplier can do this for just $15 per logo.
Embroidery machines, Cricut machines, 3D Printers and so on have become quite popular and accessible.
If you have a machine and would like to use our logos yourself I have put copies of the school logos on our website.
You can download them free of charge from
https://familykarate.com.au/merchandise/
Just pop a photo up on social media when you're done and share your work 🙂
Please save the date and bring a plate for our end of year wind up!
We will have this after our TermGrading from 3:30pm on Saturday, December 7
at the park by the Baldivis Indoor Sporting Facility on Eighty Road Baldivis.
We are improving the quality of uniforms we supply new members and will now provide new members custom designed uniforms with black pants and logos which we are having manufactured by Tan's Martial Arts Melbourne. Tan's currently design and manufacture our custom Black Belts and provide (in my opinion) the highest quality belts and uniforms in Australia.
Over the coming term I ask that all students start wearing the white tops of their current uniforms.
Over time, as uniforms need to be replaced I ask that you replace them with the official club uniform. Uniforms will be priced at $65 for kids and $75 for adults. Please contact me if you like to place orders.
This time of year I create the schedules for our school for the following years.

After training on Thursday nights a few of us have been heading to The Chase just over the way from the Baldivis Dojo.
It has a nice family feel to the place and is very kid friendly, it would be great to see you there.
In Term 2 of this year we had a huge influx of new students.
This was fantastic to see but was a lot for the club to absorb so quickly.
To manage the intake of new students and to keep the focus on the development of existing students we’ll be limiting admissions from the general public to the school holidays and the first two weeks of term.
Referrals from existing students such as friends, siblings or parents starting to train are welcome at any time.
In the second week of term we are inviting our students to “Bring a Friend” to class.
We will be handing out cards to students that they can pass on to their friends.
Unlike some clubs we don’t generally offer free trial classes so this is a way for friends of our student to come and try our classes and have some fun!
If you’ve a minute and want to say something nice about our Karate Club please submit a review!
Head to our reviews page and spread the word!

Our awesome Sensei Mat has his own club called “Steel Deck Martial Arts”.
Sensei Mat will be offering private training lessons for individuals or small groups at competitive rates, all members of Family Goju Karate and Open Path Martial arts receive heavy a discount on lessons, there is no sign up or hidden fees
Private lessons are a perfect way of fine tuning and improving your Kihon and Kata with one on one instruction.
Please send expressions of interest to Sensei Mat at mathewsouthwell@hotmail.com
Sensei Mat has an elite level depth of understanding of Goju Ryu and rare real world experience of the applications of self defence techniques.

West Australian Karate Federation
The club is looking (again) at Membership of the Western Australian Karate Federation (WAKF) so we can field competition teams in Kata and Kumite.
To be honest I’ve been biassed against competition but recently one of our sister clubs (Open Path Martial Arts) has started competing in tournaments over east and has had a really good experience with it.
So I have set up a small group to help make a decision about whether to join or not and am in talks with the WAKF leadership.
If you have questions or a particular interest in this please get in touch!
As you may have seen, our website has been rebuilt to (hopefully) make it a lot easier to navigate the huge volume of online training resources we’ve put together over the years.
If you’ve not had a look at the Open Source Karate website I would encourage you to do so a link is available on our links page under references.
